Landlords will still exist, it's "renting" that needs to die. The "landlord" should be offering land contracts or private mortgages, either of which make the "tenant" an owner or co-owner of the property. The "landlord" offers the land contract and a comprehensive maintenance agreement that they can drop when they buy out the remainder of the landlord's equity.
