I’ve never known Fife and Dundonian accents to be described as ‘pretentious’.
Divisive meme is divisive? I assumed it was just a too big bubble for Edinburgh
Yeah. I think they just made it too big for Edinburgh, as you say.
But to be honest, most of the folk I know fae the ‘burgh are nae posh.
Dundonian accent is mad. It's probably the most out there. Like Russian or baltic.
I disagree, but whatever. You need to spend more regional time around Scotland.
What are you disagreeing with ? I lived in Edinburgh for 25 years. 4 years in Dundee. I've been to most Scottish cities. Easy Coast and west I haven't really visited and none of the islands. No higher than Inverness. Never been to ullapool or however it's spelt.
Ok fair enough. Maybe my 25 years in Dundee and 2 years in Edinburgh inured me to the accent.
Who knows. I met very few Dundonians. Mostly people from Edinburgh. But the ones I did meet had mad accents. Maybe it was just them
How could you spend 4 years on Dundee and not meet many Dundonians?
Exactly.
Where were they?
The pubs the clubs the shops. Everyone. They all were from outside Dundee.
We lived in the city centre for 2 years and all the days were filled with students. Was wild.
Weird. What years?
2009 to 2012
The Golden years
You were clearly going to the wrong pubs if you wanted to meet the locals.
Drouthy Neebors was the spot.
Where in Dundee? I know one in Edinburgh. Just down the road from where I used to stay
Where was that. I Googled it and largs came up.
The locals we knew lived in the alley behind us. We did not interact with them.
I’ve corrected the spelling, sorry. On Perth Road across from art college. Mostly artist, musician, skater crowd.
