I fully support the rights of people who absolutely must buy the game on the first day of release for full price in order to subsidise a nice discount for me when I will buy it a year later for $30 (or less).
Games that flop often get heavier discounts later down the line. Digital copies have no cost to create, so the only cost is the opportunity cost of a bigger sale.
Total War: Pharaoh went from 170 PLN to 44 PLN in like a month. Age of Sigmar Real of Ruin from 250 to 95 in similar time (also lmao AoS totally inherited the WHFB shitty games curse)
