From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Hey folks I've been a Fedora workstation user for some time now and love the experience. I should have switched from Windows to Linux sooner. I have a small question today. I bought a Steam deck a while back for gaming on the go. Nice device that gives me tons of fun. I would like to use the little handheld as a backup device for urgent work matters. I know the Steam Deck isn't suitable for that, but I'd like to get a bit more out of the device than just gaming.

I was thinking of flashing a USB drive with a Tails OS install and using that as a backup workstation when I don't have my laptop with me. I wanted to ask if it would be possible to use Tails OS on the Steam deck. Or if any of you know of another alternative for what I'm looking for.

Many thanks in advance.

Horseshit. Your security team is full of idoits if they dont like TAILS. Its built to be secure

It has a bit of a reputation not for being insecure but for being used by some unscrupulous people.

Like cancer patients? Or people looking at cat pictures?

Seriously most Tor traffic is people browsing Facebook.

Weeeeeellll that and all the pedos, and people using the markets (which tbh I think isn't that big a deal, the markets I mean of course), but yeah sure it's the facebook lol.

It mostly is Facebook. That's the point. You're parroting misinformation.

But it has gotten a bad reputation because of the other shit. That's my point. You're being willfully ignorant.

No, some people perceive it as such because of people like you gobbling up misinformation.

Theres wayy more illicit content on the clearnet then Tor, but you dont hear people saying "oh that disteo lets you on the internet, its bad"

The majority of Tor traffic is people just getting on Facebook, stop pretending it has more illegal content than the rest of the 'net

And yet nonetheless, tails has a reputation.

People think innocent children in Gaza have "reputation" of being terrorists.

Just because a propaganda campaign has spread misinformation so that theres a false "reputation" doesn't make it true. What it does mean is that we should actively combat that misinformation.

Innocent civilians are not terrorists just because they're brown and speak Arabic.

TAILS is mostly used by folks just browsing cat pictures in Facebook.

Did I say it was "true" or did I say "it has a reputation?" Jfc my guy, quit being so dense (or keep being dense and fuck off, makes no difference to me). If it has a reputation, true or not, for pedo shit and markets, and your boss or security team is familiar with this reputation, true or not as it is, they perhaps unsurprisingly will suspect you of pedo or market shit, true or not. Ffs this isn't as hard as you're making it.

If someone in your workplace is going to falsely accuse you of something based on objectively false propaganda, then its time to call them on their bullshit and educate them.

Let me know how that goes for you.

I've successfully rolled-out Onion Share and Tor Browser at a number of companies that I worked-for.

That's good, you don't work everywhere.
