I seem to remember Sakurai saying that this would be the last one. I guess he either doesn’t have much of a say or that it made too much money to pass up on another….
Sakurai and Hayo Miyazaki drunk betting who will retire first
Sakurai isn’t even old, he seems like the kind of guy who could go on making games for another 45 years haha
The thing is it seemed like Sakurai wants to do other things, but has no choice but to work on smash 28/9.
Yeah :( Then I wish he could retire from it. I’m fine with Ultimate being the last one, Smash will live on through the community.
I can’t wait for people to make an emulated online mode like they did for Melee!
He wanna make indie game though, so yes he will work until miyazaki age lol
Maybe my memory is faulty but I seem to recall every single sequel was going to be the last one. Them Nintendo saw the profits and cuts him a bonus so he turns around and says one more.
He said that before Ultimate too
Sakurai's independent. Nintendo always goes to him first when it's time to make a new entry, but Sakurai's under no obligation to accept. Nevertheless, he keeps coming back to the table, so it's probably fair to assume that he enjoys directing this series.
Sakurai remembered that if he wasn’t making Smash games, he’d have too much time to sleep; SIX whole hours! Of SLEEP!
