What is Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead?

Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead is a open-source turn-based survival game set in a post-apocalyptic world. It is often described as a “zombie game”, but there is much more to it than just zombies.

The game is procedurally generated, which means that each playthrough is unique, and it features RPG-like skill progression system and is often considered as an epitome of a modern roguelike.

It’s notable for its high level of difficulty and its emphasis on realism, and you must manage attributes like hunger, thirst, and fatigue, as well as deal with injuries and illnesses.

Does anyone actually use the "move view" keys? These are, by default, the shift-movement keys; they recenter the view persistently on a location offset from one's character. I occasionally hit them by accident.

I just can't imagine much of a use for them. Maybe being in a firefight at long range and wanting to see what's coming temporarily, but it seems like an incredibly niche use, and they tie up a bunch of keybindings by default.

I sometimes use it for monster infighting, zombies, mi-gos, triffids, mutants and fungaloids are fun to watch in a death match, maybe even spy on enemies to avoid line of sight, but I find it easier to just read the log and/or minimap, so I just reuse those keys for more useful actions such as toggle run, activating items, bionics, mutant or modded abilities, etc.

Speaking of which, it's really annoying that you can't unbind movement keybindings even if you use arrow keys since if you do so they won't work at all, not even in the menus (I had to reinstall the game and launcher because of it once, lost all my saved options and keybindings)

You can probably edit config/keybindings.json manually to recover from a situation like that.

There were system errors that forced me to delete the option files
