I'm eating pineapple on pizza right now!

BBQ chicken, pineapple, green pepper, BBQ sauce base.

Somewhere in Italy, a collective groan was heard.

It seems like people base their entire personalities on hating pineapple pizza lol

Pretty much anything can go on pizza. It's bread, cheese, and sauce....all of which can be modified to match the topping. Mashed potatoes + white sauce is an incredible combo

If those people who hate on pineapple pizza saw the pizze I prepare, they'd scream bloody murder. Let's see...

  • Chocolate, shredded coconut, strawberries, mozzarella. No sauce.
  • Mango and kielbasa krakowska.
  • Beef stroganoff, including straw potatoes. It gets two sauces.
  • pinhão/piñón pizza. It's a starchy local pine kernel, certainly not found in Italy. (Or outside my homeland for all that matters.) It's carb over carb.
  • pizze bianche in general. Some folks in my family simply like them!

Pizza is an open faced sandwich that gets cooked quickly. It's not special and the process is done in other places in other ways but for some reason people hold onto stuff so tightly.

That being said turkey dinner pizza. Turkey slices and gravy, dollops of potatoes and some cheddar cheese. Hell yeah.

That first one sounds awful to me (coconut is not for me) but that just means there's more for you! I'd definitely try the rest.

Toss a few scoops of mashed potatoes on that last one and give it a go...like pepperoni-sized scoops slightly pressed down. Add some chopped bacon if you're feeling it. THAT is my favorite non-standard pizza of all time

In cases that someone dislikes coconut it's rather easy to leave it out from some slices. I'd probably do it for you.

The mashed potatoes sound like a great idea, for texture variation. I'll try it, thank you for the tip!

It's such a stupid hill to die on.

Eh pineapple is delicious, feel free to shamelessly enjoy your pizza

Pineapple is S tier fruit. I do not care for it on pizza.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Well, you are wrong.

Also the S is best tier. It stands for, uh, aweSome.

[–] Socsa@sh.itjust.works 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Yes, as a fruit, pineapple is God tier. I do not care for it on pizza though.

Have you tried it on BBQ chicken pizza like Troy recommends? You still might not like it but I think pineapple works much better there than on e.g. a regular pepperoni pizza with red sauce.

That's one of my favorite pizzas. Try it with banana peppers instead of bell peppers for even more zing, or swap the chicken for meatballs as a tasty variation.

I also like adding bacon, but my arteries don't like it as much ;)
