I saw all the announcements for Sync, and remembered that Sync for Reddit was my main app a long time ago. Couldn't recall why I switched to Infinity.

Downloaded Sync for Lemmy today, scrolled past about 4 posts before a box showed up that said "sponsored content." Now I remember why I switched.

You want free and high quality. Generally not a sustainable business model for developers who have to eat.

I'd be willing to pay only if I wasn't forced to give my data to Google (because of Google Play integration).

I deem telemetry (and therefore any Google integration) unacceptable. Especially in a product I pay for.

I want paid and high quality. Forced telemetry is not high quality.

Well, that's because you shouldn't.

Why... would a developer make a zero-cost, ad-free, money-draining app? Sure, some hobbyists can and do afford to lose money doing that, but for the rest of them... they still have bills to pay, y'know?

Everything has a cost...
