Please note this is just a beta and there are going to be bugs, but it works and it works nicely. Have fun.

Everyone is free to do what they want, but with the bugs this has, and the ads it contains, and the high lifetime price, it's a hard pass for me

[โ€“] TimewornTraveler@lemm.ee 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I can handle bugs but I choose to live ad-free and I aint paying that insane price to do so

[โ€“] randomperson@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If you'd really live ad free then you shouldn't see any ads in Sync because you'd have them blocked device-wise.

[โ€“] TimewornTraveler@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

You can block ads on your entire device without losing functionality in random places?

[โ€“] randomperson@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

There are even DNS to do that.

[โ€“] slashasdf@feddit.nl 2 points 1 year ago

Yes, you can use something like adguards DNS, I am using it for a while and I have not had any issues

[โ€“] godless@feddit.de 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Adfree is 20 bucks, how is that insane?

[โ€“] Sendbeer@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Imo it's not bad, but I need to wait and see how I like it. I used relay for Reddit so not familiar with it. I am just doing the $2 sub for this month as a trial. So far it crashes out as soon as I enter account info and then try to change options. It's a beta so I emailed email listed on Google play for it. Obviously that will need to be fixed. :)

It's got a nice interface though. Can see why people liked it.

Someone in the comments said $115 or $150

[โ€“] godless@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's for ultra. Simple adfree is 20 for a lifetime.

[โ€“] _sideffect@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Not bad, but still i'd rather use a true open source app

[โ€“] richieadler@lemmy.myserv.one 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I love the sentiment. If they only they didn't look hideous compared to Sync...

It's functionally tolerable but I find it extremely ugly.

Just checking it out now and I think it might be worth it if it becomes a daily driver.

The fact the lemmy web app is perfectly serviceable, and there are free alternatives takes some of the bite for me. It's just a simple choice of whether this app is worth it to me.

$20 for lifetime ad-free, $99 for lifetime "Ultra" which has features that use paid APIs for translation and image parsing.
