I went through this early on with Jerboa. I found clearing my app cache early on fixed it again after a specific update broke my ability to stay logged in.

As a layman I've read once a app gets updated the data in cache for the last version isn't really suitable so it become unused and more data is added to the cache. Sometimes this can be a issue. There are apps that can help clear caches after major updates to Android. It helped clean my phone up overall too.
