College students do - they have other priorities than to be taking care of their own homes.

I am no fan of capitalism, but the least we can do is to be accurate in portraying its faults - and to say that "no one needs" is too extreme imho.

Many college students live in coops (cooperative housing) though. They really don’t need landlord when there can be councils of student run housing. Landlord are NEVER needed.

Where I studied we got the best of both worlds: paid rent and needed to take care of (not) our apartments

But I agree, it's nice to be able to get at least something back for the small price of paying a whole lot as a rent
