An online space for the vegans of Lemmy.

Rules and miscellaneous:

  1. We take for granted that if you engage in this community, you understand that veganism is about the animals. You either are vegan for the animals, or you are not (this is not to say that discussions about climate/environment/health are not allowed, of course)
  2. No omni/carnist apologists. This is not a place where to ask to be hand-holded into veganims. Omnis coddling/backpatting is not tolerated, nor are /r/DebateAVegan-like threads
  3. Use content warnings and NSFW tags for triggering content
  4. Circlejerking belongs to /c/vegancirclejerk
  5. All posts should abide by Lemmy's Code of Conduct

I had cheese put into my food before, but now I was given meat-meat and not only once but twice (different places).

It wasn't even by people not understanding what veganism is, it was just a very blatant swap.

Sure, I got money back, but I'm wondering: has the acceptance of vegans gone down and malice towards us gone up? I would've thought it would've gotten better over time.

I'm asking because I'm so far removed from the vegan community I forget I'm vegan because the store being "empty" for me is the norm, as is checking labels etc; I've no clue whether other vegans are facing similar issues as of late.

Definitely not blaming you. I guess I don't have this problem as most of the places I visit are vegan. Maybe I'm lucky as there are more options in my city. If it makes you feel any better, I accidentally bought the real pork version of something cuz I was tired, and ate two bites because before I realised.

Thanks for the effort you're putting in. Things will get better in the future.

I used to live somewhere with vegan places, but I now live in a country which seems to have high "flexi"-veganism (carnists opting to buy some vegan stuff) rate, which seemingly also translates into there being practically no vegan places, but more of mixed places. I will be leaving this place in the near future.

I love my butt bidet. You've a great nickname.
