Not everyone, they could be tankies too.
Liberals are desperate to keep things the way they are, so they have no patience for leftists or conservatives, and actively shun both, then blame leftists when they lose.
Tankies aren't leftists and conservatives are not the opposite of liberals. Conservatives oppose progressives, liberals include conservatives and progressives. The DNC and GOP both have a lot of conservatives in their ranks. The GOP has fascism and bigots and the DNC has social democrats and (probably some stealthed) democratic socialists.
Not everyone, they could be liberals too.

Tankies desperately want an American Communist party to be the only party, they don't like the way the US is run, and want more change than anyone is comfortable with.
That they shun the others is about the only thing you got right there.
I can't even keep up with the terms and labels anymore, they sure as hell don't mean what they used to mean
They have no patience for leftists but desperately want the approval of conservatives.
