The Koraat steel is high hardness and takes a bit longer to take an edge. But, the steel can support a very refined edge.

My principal issue is the smile - I much prefer honing straight straight razor, and I find it so much more complicated.

Edit: Thank you for your last video, which was not only very instructive, but contained also glamour shots of your TI.

Since most knives are curved, knife sharpeners thinking nothing about it. But, it does take a while to become comfortable with curvy shapes. I did a video on honing a smiling razor, but I don't think it was very informative. My Koraat 7/8 has a good smile to it, but it was honed in November and that damn steel never gives up an edge ;-). I'll do another smiling edge video if I get a good example. Perhaps @whosgotthepudding can help me find one.

Thank you for watching the video. I hope there was something useful in there for you. The abalone scales on the TI are much more interesting IRL because they change as the light moves. The 7/8 full hollow from TI is excellent. My other TIs are 6/8. I noticed the difference immediately.

I'm at the stage where I dislike honing smiling razors, but I feel I'm not doing to bad (also thanks to you and your videos!)

Your videos are always helpful, and I like your "rambling" style – because some things simply cannot be shown while doing (for instance, where you put what kind of pressure). Carry on with your good work!
