This film I regard as a bit of a classic and I reviewed it quite recently on my blog. Not sure how I feel about this one.

Why remake movies that are already good?

They can update the production quality. The story is good; the special effects and costumes are hella dated and cheesy though. The TNG episode homage to it looks better.

I know there was an Enterprise episode that was almost the same, I forget the TNG one though. Do you remember the name/ep number?

I thought the poster meant S3E07 "The Enemy", but seems it's S5E02 "Darmok".

They are more likely referring to Dawn (s2e13 Enterprise). The plot is similar to Enemy Mine and Zhokaan kind of looks like Lou Gossett Jr.

Yeah this is the only one I could remember that was a true homage to it.
