Is that supposed to be a uterus or crucified jesus?

[–] jabathekek@sopuli.xyz 33 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Don't know, but it'll be delicious either way.

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

Mmm, jesus 🍽

It's an egg going into the frying pan. You can see the yolk and egg white, and if you look near the hands there's shells.

I thought an egg was my brain, and a pan was drugs.

Little of column A, little of column B.

To me it reads as one of those anti-abortion pieces put up on banners outside a church.

Or a pro abortion stance?

Or perhaps it is both on purpose to make people fight in the comments.

How do you see it working as a pro abortion stance?

I only see it as a possible anti-. The hands look like demon hands, the yolk looks sad as it gets “sacrificed.” Also, there is only one yolk, so I don’t see it as a uterus.

Something about forced birthing and not caring about the outcomes after birth. Which is absolutely a Republican thing.

But I def think it leans more into the anti-abortion side.

As for the reproductive parts I see the shells as ovaries, the connecting white as fallopian tubes, the yolk and falling white as uterus and more below.

But hey, art is subjective.

I didn't see a uterus until you mentioned it, but now I can see it with the shells being the ovaries.

I'd still peg this as Jesus though. There seems to be an impression of muscles in the torso, thighs, and pubis.

But the overall shape and the symbolism of the egg definitely speaks womb. Maybe it's a message that eggs (gift from the womb) are a sacrifice (crucifixion) which sustains us (Jesus). Big J was into the idea that we had to eat him for our salvation. Or maybe it's a commentary that life eats life.

No you fool, it's a clearly vegan work about you eating chicken Jesus.

[–] kinther@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

I'm fairly certain there's a bit of extra detail under the yolk that looks like a necklace as well.

[–] Shardikprime@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Some life. Others just do with solar radiation or geothermal roaming

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

I smell a new band name: Uterus jesus fried egg.

[–] Gormadt@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 4 months ago

It could be both IMO

I'm leaning a bit towards Jesus because of his story but the symbolic choices lead to other ideas as well

It's a conversation piece for sure
