Ugh, I know the games are divisive, but for me they really did not work at all. I can't even truly say why. They were below-expectations, yeah, but not terribly so. Just didn't connect.

I got the same issue with FF16, tbh. While FFX worked for me (even though I'm weird, and think FFX-2 is better πŸ˜…).

FFX-2 has a great battle system, and job based FFs were always the most rewarding to play.

XIII was the point I just decided I didn't care any more. (Also, there's no way that XIII gets to count as retro already, right?)

Which, in a way, makes it weird that I’ve felt okay with FFXIV. It’s a very different form of satisfaction to its gameplay.
