I was a teen during Occupy, I guess getting let down by Obama was what created my politics, but what really got me going on my own political journey was arguing with my lib parents about Snowden, Manning, and Assange. Here we had evidence of our government committing crimes, and they just didn't want to hear about it. These people really watched 24 and came away thinking that that was how the world had to be.
