Do you want to live in a world where Russia is nuking major world powers without repercussions? Because if there's no retaliation, they're going to nuke any country they feel like nuking.
Let them. The blood of millions of lives will be on there hands. Somehow I don't think they are going to do that willy nilly. Same thing with the US. The US probably isn't going to nuke Russia.
They don't care about blood on their hands, and I don't think the countries getting nuked would agree with your approach.
That's part of the problem. We shouldn't look at Russia and think senseless brutes
Do you know nothing of Putin? Putin is Russia for all policies and actions, domestic, and international.
The basic idea is not letting anyone nuke anyone else by making the consequences really really absurd.
The doomsday machine isn't for winning wars, it is for avoiding them.
