The visual cuisine for this Monday night is the season finale of The Boys season 4 followed by the early "season 0" of Battlebots due to popular demand.

The Boys is a show based off of a comic that satirized mainstream superhero comics, it has frequent shock/gross-out humor with bombastic, graphic violence. The first few minutes of the first episode of season 1 will give you a general idea of what the show is about. It's essentially superheroes but with capitalism coupled with contemporary political satire.

Battlebots is a show about people making robots that fight in an arena, it is based off the season 2 My Life as a Teenage Robot episode "Robot Riot."

A BattleBots post that didn't tag me??

Unforgivable.

I won't be able to watch tonight but early BattleBots is fun - the meta hadn't solidified yet and Tombstone was still a terrifying threat, rather than just "that guy you need to make sure you have an answer to".

Also, you might get the hosts back before they knew what they were doing!

Chris Rose was a football commentary guy, so he just had to adapt to BattleBots. Over the years, he eventually learned how things worked and is a pretty good commentator now, but I still get the vibes that he's a "football guy".

Kenny Florian otoh, is a real fan. Dude came to really understand combat robotics on a deep level. A few season in, he starts giving input that even competitors might even miss.

Jenny in the pit, was very good. They stopped hiring her when COVID hit, and it was a real loss to the show.

You won't get to Pete, the Bot Whisperer, but he was legit. Used to be a competitor (Ronin was a OKAY bot, but Pete is GOOOD.)

Most recent seasons he hasn't been on camera much, but he feeds Kenny and Chris lines.

Anyways, I have a robot combat competition next month and if I can find a way to not doxx myself I might post some vids
