I'm using this music player (sadly not Foss) but after last update is not working anymore (issue with gplay app)...any Foss alternative to it? feature that I'm looking for is playlist creation and export, file management (delete/copy file)...music cut/trim is a plus Thanks

edit: at the end I choose vanilla music seems an abandoned project but it l accomplish all my needs. Hope someone can refresh the project (UI especially... ๐Ÿ˜‰) Thanks To all

I'm not 100% sure on the feature set, but Symphony (also available on f-droid) is a super nice local music player!

seems nice, but I'm having issues on updating m3u playlist, even of I import a playlist it is not showed when trying to add a new song to that list, just favorites is showed (same as with VLC, don't know why)

Hmm, that is weird, I can't really help on that as I haven't really had any issues with it. Maybe see if there are any issues filed on github regarding the problem, and if you like it enough, maybe file an issue if you can imagine yourself using it!

I'm using VLC and Metro nowadays, they're pretty good but VLC has better "file management" which is more of an inbuilt explorer. Both can manage Playlists to some degree but haven't checked the export import yet. Honestly for file management I just use my pc with terminal and Picard and just sync it to the phone. Might wanna check them out.

playlist management is nonsense with VLC don't know why they don't simply use absolute m3u format ๐Ÿ™†โ€โ™‚๏ธ

Checked it out for you. Metro has save to file option, which saves the Playlist to m3u format

ok, thanks. but tried it and is working only during export. If I try to import a playlist from a m3u file or export/import a new one created with metro it's not working. Is this happening to you too?

Weird, it actually works for me. I'm afraid I won't be much of help here.

Good choice with Vanilla Player.

I've used it for the last 8yrs, checking out other players occasionally, but so far nothing has made me switch away.

seems very basic and no easy folder navigation

Maybe Aplayer (izzy) or Apollo (f-droid) is something for you

I like the theme and simplicity of Gramophone

I hadd sumiliar Problem. Then i dowloaded an ungoogled apk directly from Musicolets developer Homepage and it works again.

I can't say for sure as I'm hosting my music these days, but in terms of open source local music players which aren't just rebadged Phonograph, I recommend Auxio

thanks, tried it but doesn't have folder music management, for my local music lib is a must...โ˜น๏ธ

seems good for what it says...but why not on fdroid?...and seems not foss

[โ€“] potentiallynotfelix@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

It is totally foss find it on github. I also know and trust the developer

[โ€“] dafunkkk@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

form github page the dev never say that it's foss software and beside that is under EULA license that afaik is not open source license

The app is open source just not under a good license like the gpl. I might even speak to the dev about transitioning to a license like GPL or MIT.
