Why I've taken to carrying a satellite transponder in places like that. They're reasonably effective at enabling rescue if you have a foot or leg injury which immobilizes you.

We thought about that and it actually is not that bad. The mobile reception is - for how remote you are - astounding and we took some extra insurances in case we need a lift out. But that only goes so far - it will still take some time for a helicopter to come, but the same can be said about an ambulance in traffic I guess...

Even northern scandinavia has small villages here and there so i dont know can one get 3 days from civilization even there, maybe depending on what we define as civilization
