thanks for clarifying, will remember to make a better description next time :)

Originally, I believed that I can't build an HDR image from the mini-3 AEB-shots, as somehow HDR from JPEGs seems to not be a good idea, and apart from Photoshop there's no software around that fully understands the DNG format of the more modern DJI drones. Then I found that I can just put them in gimp and manually build the HDR part. That meant that quite some shots I've taken last year could be rescued :)

took two images with different exposure, overlayed them in gimp and used a mask to bring the cloud reflections from the darker shot into the lighter image of the island, no further editing

I like your composition, the dramatic clouds, the path, the clear subject in the middle, the outlook on where the hike goes, great photo!

They're all in the contacts anyways, with autocompletion once you start typing their mailaddress

So something pissing me off is websites like lusha or dropcontact who use AI to give their customers your mail address if they only enter your name (which they get from LinkedIn, your company's website,...).

Our mailaddresses have the most basic format of firstname.lastname@company.com

So after threatening another one of those nuisances with a GDPR complaint, it got me thinking that this will become the new normal. We will have to live with it that someone tries to guess our mailadress instead of getting them from some shitty address dealer.

An idea to get rid of the problem in the future would be to add a random secret to work mail addresses, like

Firstname.lastname.secret@company.com Where the secret could be anything consisting of several letters. That way you can ensure that only people who you shared your contact details have your mailadress. What's your thoughts?

Someone asked the other day 'why so photoshopped', when I basically did nothing to the image'. The commenter was downvoted heavily and I thought that's not good. I liked the discussion tbh. So I thought more transparency would be good on what I do with the images. I only do this for fun, so don't have anything to hide

Feel free to make it one

Edited the title

Wasn't sure whether you'd get tired of the joke, so I left out the 'in Slovenia'.

Increased the structure of the water, darkened the highlights to reduce over exposure of the boats. The shot was a bit tricky, I wanted to go higher up but it's in the outer controlled airspace of an airport which restricts altitude to 50m AGL

I tried that but found that it is still too unpopulated. The instances I found just had posts by the same five people. But I agree, the software is great, it just lacks an audience :)

The color of the water is just incredible. I added some Vignette and increased the structure of the image to bring out the little eddies made by the oars. Additionally I darkened the boat as it was overexposed. No further editing, no playing with colors or saturation. Still - pretty sure the dji drone already does some post processing before I get to see the image...

TL/DR; c/pics and c/photography are the only places I share images.

Wow - that's quite the compliment for a dude who just likes to post holiday images. I don't post my pictures anywhere else, as I don't believe in letting Meta and others commercialize my photos or feed their AI monsters with it.

I like it here, I like the federation, I like that nobody restricts my upload size or compresses my images and I really like the vibe of the whole place and that I can just pay a buck a month to cover my costs instead of lots of ads and data scraping. Some months ago I thought c/pics is great but it could do with more content. So instead of complaining I started posting my own humble tries here, following the motto mediocre content is better than no content.

I'll take your question as encouragement and keep posting.

Oh wow, didn't expect that :)

Thanks!

Added some lens blur to create a better focus, desaturated a bit and added more contrast

This image is edited to a slight degree. Cut, framed, and and I touched up the sky a bit, because I was too late to capture the perfect moment and it was already growing darker again
