I'm up to 92 so far. A mix of non English, furry and hentai porn, and a few I just don't see the point of. I've got 6 or 7 users to, mostly bots that repost reddit content, and the piped link bot.

Upwards of 200, a lot of stuff I'm not interested in or "main" communities

[–] McBinary@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Communities: Just 196 and languages I don't understand.
Instances: exploding-heads (probably a couple more to follow)

Been thinking about the Usenet days when everything was built out as a hierarchy like alt.sports.falcons.gogogo

It would be nice if it was still organized like this. It could make it easier to block entire hierarchies you’re not interested in, like sports.

[–] TurnItOff_OnAgain@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

That would be cool. I've never messed with usenet

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

None. Not sure why I’d want to in all honesty.

Only a handful, I tend to only block communities that I'm completely disinterested in, find offensive, or are in languages I don't speak.

[–] ultrasquid@kbin.social 2 points 2 years ago

I have blocked exactly 10 magazines, all non-English.

[–] ADHDefy@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

Wow, not as much as I thought. I've blocked 3 communities, 3 users, and 2 domains.

[–] Melpomene@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

Let's see...

One instance, one magazine (which was later deleted) and 17 users. I block bigots, people posting explicit things without tags, hostile people, and folk with genitals as their profile pic... mostly.

[–] Gatopardo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

How can I tell? My first two days here and I've been blocking left and right.

[–] TurnItOff_OnAgain@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

The list should be in your profile

[–] pineapplelover@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

What's wrong with the piped bot?

Not a whole lot (4 communities, 7 people, 3 domains), but posting to mention that if you're on kbin.social, you can block by domain like so:

https://kbin.social/d/facebook.com

Block button is on the right in the domain information panel.

Not sure if Lemmy has this feature yet.

[–] TurnItOff_OnAgain@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

It doesn't yet.
