Welcome to Food Crimes! This community is here to collect all and any post about cursed food and generally unusual consumables.

Right now, here’s the rules:

  1. Posts must include an image or video containing food or drink.
  2. It must be unusual or cursed in some way. a. For example, something like Doritos Milk would be unusual, but normal milk would not.
  3. No AI posts whatsoever, and any images that were altered (Ex: Photoshop, Gimp) need to be tagged.

How to tag: To tag your posts, please prepend or append the tag name inside square brackets. For example,[OC] Foo bar baz or foo bar baz [Meta] would be acceptable. Multiple tags will require separate pairs of brackets, like so: [Edited][OC] foo bar baz

Here are the current tags:

You guys... I think we can all agree that actual desert pizza is good. And I also think we can agree that the things that are on this "pizza" are also individually good. However... This is literally just a piece of store bought naan with Nutella smeared on it with Oreos, candy, and unmelted marshmallows. It looks like what a 5 year old would put together. I love dessert pizza, I love Oreos and shit, but this is definitely a food crime and I 100% agree with OP for posting it here.

I mean, here in italy we do make pizza with nutella on it; cmon if even we aren't making a fuss about it (considering that i've seen people actually fight for putting cooking cream in carbonara) i think we can accept it.

The crime here is that it's on a normal pizza crust (or possibly just flatbread) and not a pastry or otherwise sweet bread crust. Dessert pizza is great when the whole thing is dessert.

That pretty much sums up the rest of the discussion in here so far.

Just from a picture I think it’s difficult to tell if its a sweet or savoury base.

But dessert pizza is great. certainly not a foodcrime

I guess I simply cannot regard dessert pizza as anything but a novelty, mainly because pizza crust is too tough and chewy to make a pleasant dessert. I prefer to just stick to the kind of doughs that are made for it, like cake, cookie, or pie.

[–] breadsmasher@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

With good dessert pizzas, the base may look similar but are actually quite different when you consume one

[–] MacNCheezus 1 points 6 months ago

Perhaps, but I still would not eat that thing.

It depends on both how you make the dough and how thin you make the crust; you can make it wafer-crisp and for this kind of pizza is wonderful; The type you are referring to is the "canotto" that most neapolitan pizza has.

[–] MacNCheezus 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Perhaps, but you're still not gonna convince me to eat THIS thing.

I mean, if we are talking about the one in the picture then, i understand you; just by looking at it i feel like i need to call an exorcist.

[–] MacNCheezus 1 points 6 months ago

Of course we are. If it was a good example of a dessert pizza I wouldn't have posted it here.

[–] ItzzMe@midwest.social 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I feel like how this goes is highly dependent on the dough used

I haven’t personally tried it but it looks like standard pizza dough so I imagine it could end up being a bit dry, at least unless there’s also a generous amount of butter involved.

Yes, I suppose technically it’s just a fancy variation of Nutella on toast (which is obviously great), but toast has a very different consistency than pizza crust.

In colombia they have a pizza that is nutella and bananas. It looks like a crime but is amazing. That said, I’d try this one. Looks like it’d taste great.

[–] MacNCheezus 2 points 6 months ago

See, I'd probably try THAT because it doesn't sound as dry and overly sweet as this thing probably is.

Roti desert pizza is a thing...

[–] MacNCheezus 3 points 6 months ago

That crust doesn't look anything like roti to me.
