Hello there... I'm using unRAID for the lasts 4 months on my hp proliant 7th gen with 16gb of ram, it is a server for storage with no much power, is it basically a home storage of photos, docs, jellyfin for 1 client at time, and I had an home assistant VM running on it with no problem at time.

I want to be able to run more vms on it, for my work I need to use two different installations of windows 11 and run delphi on each one. I know unRaid is not an dedicated hypervisor, but is more easy do these way for my files on the server than do passthrough on the disk on a proxmox installation..

I'm thinking about these chinese x99 motherboards with dual xeon and 64gb of ram, the price is fine, I will get a lot of cores to vms, I will not play games on it, just some office stuffs and delphi for programming, is it a good option or a better idea is get some recent hardware like an i7 or some ryzen?

Pd: I not worried about wait to compile, on my laptop with an i7 1260p and 64gb of ram it take about 5 minutes or more to compile, but I understand that is not a hardware problem, but a software legacy probmem, the delphi versión that i'm stuck is just 32bits and had some issues anyway.
