second rodeo:
"this ain't my first rodeo."
third rodeo:
"i'm really getting the hang of this now"
Me at my first rodeo:
Roping cows is OK, but it would be a lot cooler to wrestle them.
The people who brought me to the rodeo:
That's the next event.
“It’d also be pretty great to have some kids get dragged around by a sheep”
“You’re not gonna believe this, but…”
"Can you imagine if we really got crazy by having guys try to stay on a bucking bronco with just one hand?"
"Guess what!"
That was wild, but let's see him try that with pissed off, 2500 pound bull.
I just wanted to let you two know that your comments made me laugh, thank you both.
What part don't you understand? Riding bulls that don't want you on them? Riding horses that don't want you on them? Clowns everywhere? Racing horses around trash cans? Pulling heavy sleds with prehistoric looking horses? Tying up calves for kidnap? It all seems pretty straightforward to me.
Not just clowns everywhere.
Clowns actively putting themselves in harms way. Which is probably therapeutic, on a dark level, for a number of people.
That is true, those fuckers are cray cray.
Toughest dudes in the whole rodeo.
And don’t forget the kid versions of all of those too.
Some of the horses want you on them...
Prehistoric horses were pretty small. It took a lot of selective breeding to get horses to the size that they are now.
Holy crap, they were like dogs. I had no idea.
I've seen horses that were excited to go to work.
Well, it's bulls and blood
It's dust and mud
It's the roar of a Sunday crowd
It's the white in his knuckles
The gold in the buckle
He'll win the next go 'round
It's boots and chaps
It's cowboy hats
It's spurs and latigo
It's the ropes and the reins
And the joy and the pain
And they call the thing rodeo
Thank you for awakening that sudden memory!
Coincidentally I just heard that song again a couple weeks ago for the first time in a decade. It's a great song. I actually like it more now than I did when it came out.
Ropin' the Wind was a fantastic album as a whole.
Me, at my second rodeo: "Jesus, man it's only my second time and they're all acting like I should be an expert!"
My first rodeo was in Grand lakes Colorado. I had just eaten a pot Brownie. 30-40mins in, at about the same time I was coming to the realization that I was indeed quite high, the rodeo clown appeared and started walking around the stands. I have never avoided eye contact with someone so hard in my life.
But now I can unironically say, "this isn't my first rodeo", and I find that amusing, so that's nice.
predictably underappreciated by the lemmy crowd
Well I learnt something new today so thank you.
Is that guy the soy wojak?
A guy and a bull.
