an italian tried it out to produce a bestiary of birds using their plumage, a fairly literal way to interpret the assignment.

what's unclear to me with the ones from mexico is if how the feathers were attached. some have cloth backing which would enable a weaving perhaps, as was done in textiles. but others say wood or paper which i guess you'd glue. might depend entirely on the specific work.

where the fuck can i see one of these irl this is so cool
