LOL, I'm curious why certain posts queue downvotes vs upvotes, as this is a really small community.

Is it because it's fox News maybe? Idk I just think it's interesting.

I posted the link mainly due to the fact that they're reporting on the subject, and it seemed written in a serious manner.

I'll always downvote Fox News.

Yeah it's fox so I get that. Debatable if it's actually "news" or just a mix of entertainment and propaganda.

Although instead of automatically discounting it, it's still important to see what they're saying, especially to their audience. With respect to the UFO topic I was surprised to see it was a relatively serious article and not dripping with condescension and calling it all dumb conspiracy theory nonsense.

Yeah, fair points.

The downvotes are always strange to me. I see my share of posts get downvoted for no clear reason. Fox does make some people instinctively downvote, so maybe that's part of the reason.

I wish people would at least engage the comments to voice their opinions. And, if the UAP topic isn't something certain people want to see in their feeds then they should block the community instead of downvoting the posts. Lemmy is still small and when people downvote posts without discussing why then they're just going to stifle Lemmy's growth.

Yeah it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense, does it? I don't know how the lemmy "algorithm" stuff works so not sure how any non-subscribers would see any of these posts. Does it ever get to all? Idk.

It could just depend on the day and the group of people who happen to be browsing and their mood, as opposed to the content. Who knows.

Lemmy definitely has some weird algorithms. These posts do hit All, but I'm not sure what dictates how they're listed in Hot or Active. I've had posts receiving downvotes within minutes of posting, so there seem to be a lot of people catching new posts.

Personally, I don't care about the voting of my posts. Though I hate the idea of posts getting buried just because people don't like the topic or source.

I would like to see the topic brought up with candidates, though the questions would need to be presented in a way to limit ridicule. I think the best route would be framing the questions around security and lack of transparency in the government. The historical and recent UAP sightings near nuclear facilities and military locations would be a good focus to show that there is a long standing security concern that isn't getting properly addressed.

Agreed. Additionally, the missing and unaccounted for pentagon defense money should be on the top of the discussion list, imo. It's been brought up by Burchett and even AOC way back soon after Grusch's hearing, and others. It's not spoken of often enough. Where's all this tax money go?

Some of the missing defense money is probably funneled to secret black programs, unsurprisingly. Also, the money could be missing due to something more sinister like blatant corruption and theft within the gov't. This should be a topic of focus for everyone. Bringing this to the limelight could potentially lead to opening more doors for UAP disclosure.

Unfortunately if all the corruption stuff is true, and thinking back to Grusch's claims of people being threatened and maybe even murdered, "they" are going to do everything in their power to avoid the conversation.
