Given your username, I'm not convinced it's going to go to plan

Good point.

"Me writing a script that looks for my obituary, and when it finds it, sends memes from my account to my friends, until one of the random memes is a webp, python starts throwing errors in an infinite loop, it doesn't properly reset the timer because I had that inside the try block, and the whole system crashes from an error log file eating all the hard disk space 2 days later."

That's an easy fix. Just write a second script to erase the data in the error log file every now and then.

I have actually done this! Unfortunately I won’t get to enjoy it.

There’s also a couple other conditions that checks and if they match it sends out information that can be used to recover my data for those who need it.

You need to upgrade buddy, you should send ~~LLM~~ gen-ML generated pictures of you traveling the world, or add yourself as a ghostly/cadaveric appearance in social media pictures of your relatives.

LLM - Large Language Model, so these pictures will be all ASCII

OP, if you’re capable of reading, check out the book called “Daemon” by Daniel Suarez

You should write a script to find out how many local newspapers run obituaries. And if they do, I assume they are like what used to be the classified ads, so someone is paying for them.

[–] mycodesucks@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I mean, mine does. And there only needs to be the one for my script.

[–] rmuk@feddit.uk 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Doesn't help when they publish their pages as image files, like this one does.

[–] mycodesucks@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

That whole page is a meme itself.

Better than I expected, tbh.

The best pranks are the ones that people pull when they know they don't risk revenge

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 months ago

This sounds a little pro-suicide bomber

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

I would do that only have it send my wife random links from Aww, Funny, and Weird News.
