Much as I’d love to see this, not gonna happen. Not till we fire all the lobbyists

….Into the fucking sun.

That's way over the top. What did the sun ever do to deserve lobbyists?

Makes me squint occasionally.

Quite literally gives people cancer. Just like the companies the lobbyists work for. There's a kind of poetic beauty to it, really.

It's so frustrating to watch, because Richard Fucking Nixon of all people was able to pull off a windfall tax and it had the desired effect.

And now, not only do we know it's impossible, but everyone who refuses to do it is going to get reelected in November and we're all going to pretend they give a damn about the poor and disenfranchised.

They'll just pass it along to the consumers. How about just breaking them up?

They might try, but that didn't happen when Nixon passed a windfall tax in the 70's.

And, even so, it's a good thing to make corruption more inconvenient, and a windfall tax wouldn't just help fix inflation, it would send a huge message to Corporate America.

But this is all a pipe dream. The Federal Government is an oligarchy, not a democracy.

Just break them up. If they're able to raise prices above inflation, then they are by definition a cartel. We already have a law on the books for this. It just needs to be used.

Has it been used since ma Bell?
