Do we not credit artists here?

This is from Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal by Zach Weinersmith

The longest-living cat ever verified was Creme Puff, a mixed tabby domestic cat who lived for 38 years and 3 days. Flossie, a cat born in 1995, is the current verified oldest living cat at 28 years old (as of June 2024).

Damn.

my cat's about to turn 16 and i dread the day he doesn't make it to being the next longest living cat.

Is there a c/imSorryJohn ?

It needs more content. The last post was 9 months ago.

I'll see what I can come up with. Maybe I'll post something.

Lemmy is littered with dead communities that were copied over from reddit a year ago or so.

[–] Allonzee@lemmy.world 33 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I guess Jon dyes his roots.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 40 points 4 months ago (1 children)

So you're saying that John Dyes in the Ends?

[–] pastermil@sh.itjust.works 10 points 4 months ago

Everybody Dyes in the Ends.

Seriously. :(

My cat is roughly 13 but I'm just lying to myself and saying she's immortal! She's been literally my only company for over a decade so when the inevitable happens it's definitely not going to be a fun time...

[–] fckreddit@lemmy.ml 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I call it The Price of Love.

I just realised that we are more worried about mortality of our loved ones than our own.

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

Makes sense. We won't be upset after we die.

[–] Timecircleline@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 months ago

Sometimes I remember that my cats won't be with me forever and I cry and cry and wipe my snotty face in their fur and yet they still love me. I've long decided a long time ago that I'm saving one of my cats ashes to mix with mine so we can be together again after I die. She's my soulmate.

In Jon's defense, HE doesn't appear to have aged, so why would he expect Garfield to?

Is there a dog skeleton around somewhere as well?

[–] son_named_bort@lemmy.world 19 points 4 months ago (1 children)

It's in the basement along the the skeletal remains of Lyman.

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 12 points 4 months ago

That's fucked up, Jon!

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 23 points 4 months ago (1 children)

It's also perfectly possible Jon has acquired a new cat to replace the original, while keeping the name.

It's a bit weird, but I think it's a very Jon thing to do

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I had a cat name ~~Snowball~~ Garfield, she died! She died!

[–] Glytch@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

Lyman said he was sleeping. He lied! He lied!

[–] Dave@lemmy.nz 21 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Not sure why SMBC keeps getting posted with the credit cut off: https://www.smbc-comics.com/comic/garfield

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 months ago

Especially when it's outside Zach's usual style. I read SMBC and I didn't recognize this as one of his.

[–] ZombieMantis@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

🫡 thank you for posting the source

[–] Shard@lemmy.world 19 points 4 months ago (2 children)

On another note Garfield as a comic strip needs to be retired. Every joke that can be done has been done. Let Garfield die already...

[–] johannesvanderwhales@lemmy.world 13 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I don't think Garfield is a strip aimed at people who value originality.

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

It literally isn't. Jim Davis created it specifically to be predictable and safe, appealing to as wide an audience as possible. I don't fault him for it - it was a very successful tactic, and I liked it as a kid. But creative or groundbreaking art it ain't.

That said, it did spawn Garfield: His 9 Lives, which was anything but predicable and safe.

[–] DeathbringerThoctar@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I have this book and Jesus Fuck that story is nightmare fuel.

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

Turns out I'm Sorry John was already official a decade before the internet!

[–] racketlauncher831@lemmy.ml 5 points 4 months ago

Garfield die

Hahahaha!

[–] creditCrazy@lemmy.world 18 points 4 months ago

Y'all have heard of r/imsorryjhon now get ready for c/imsorrygarfeild

[–] Djtecha@lemm.ee 9 points 4 months ago

I was not prepared to deal with this level of grief today...

[–] QualifiedKitten@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago (1 children)
[–] Semjaza@lemmynsfw.com 4 points 4 months ago

It's not.

It's just reposting 4chan stuff. That post is fine, but look over the community and you'll find a lot of punching down and the odd dog whistle post.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

Garfield may be dead, but he shall return.

[–] hexdream@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

This is sticking in my head much more than is comfortable. Fuck.
