I totally get skipping a few mid episodes, but like yeah, the non-"plot" episodes are half the fun of TV! Monster of the week episodes were peak X-Files. Tony just being a suburban dad was peak Sopranos.

some of the best x-files episodes is weird shit happening in a town somewhere, with one of the great writers on board, and then the weird shit was never mentioned again. no big conspiracy, you don't even need to know what season it is

same goes for TNG
