That seems wise

I am legit a little bit surprised that a mob hasn’t at any point attacked Jordan Klepper. Dude has big steel balls. But this is different

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 57 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Jordan is very tall, which helps him when individual people are sizing him up. but I believe he leaves when things get too hot.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 57 points 4 months ago

I've heard him actually talk about that in interviews, that his height makes him a bit intimidating.

Also, he's clearly not talking to the craziest of the crazies most of the time, the people that are obviously dangerous. But who he talks to are bad enough.

[–] mozz@mbin.grits.dev 42 points 4 months ago

Yeah he stuck with January 6th for a certain length of time and then said you know what I think it’s about time to get the fuck out of here. This seems like a similar situation.

[–] PlasticExistence@lemmy.world 38 points 4 months ago

Klepper has several security people around him at those rallies. It would be foolish not to

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 50 points 4 months ago

As should all media outlets. It's unsafe to share a space with Trump.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 47 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Honestly, good. Jon Stewart would have been a target regardless of what happened with Trump.

[–] UserNameIsRequired@lemy.lol 104 points 4 months ago

And unlike Trump, losing Jon would be a national tragedy.

Everyone is saying it’d be unsafe for tDS crew to be there, which may not be false.

But also what jokes can you tell at this point? It’s kind of a no win situation to tell some jokey news about the guy who almost got assassinated because then you are the “liberal media who doesn’t care” or whatever BS they’ll spin on you. Even if you turn around and show footage of Trump joking about Pelosi’s husband getting assaulted, it won’t matter to the people it needs to matter to because they aren’t watching tDS anyway. They’ll hear what trump’s group says and that’s it.

Oh no the “liberal media who doesn’t care” quick let’s all concern ourselves with the feelings of right wingers who were going to support Trump regardless and attack anyone else over anything real or fake.

What’s with the fucking pandering and worry over magats thoughts.

Here’s what I say to the failed opportunity:

[–] sramder@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I really hope it’s just because they didn’t have time to rewrite the jokes ;-)

[–] robocall@lemmy.world 12 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Trump survived with only a small scratch. I feel like someone can say a joke or two since he is fine.

[–] Eggyhead@kbin.run 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, and wasn't it was just an ear? He doesn't really use those anyway.

[–] bradorsomething@ttrpg.network 3 points 4 months ago

Really, for a man who has everything go in one ear and out the other, he was lucky.

[–] sramder@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago

For sure… I was trying to imply that they had a bunch of jokes specifically about him getting shot at, which might now be considered in poor taste.

[–] bradorsomething@ttrpg.network 2 points 4 months ago

I mean, you know what they say about guys with one pierced ear.
