Life becomes so much easier when you remove those sources. I blocked both reddit and twitter (twitter is more of a soft block because I have time periods where it's allowed) and honestly, life is easier. For awhile I felt that lemmy was a safe area as well, but honestly it's starting to get overbearing here too. it's a strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

The best thing Elon ever did to Twitter was force me to login to see anything.

Made it a lot easier to fully stop using it.

hard agree, that combined with the VPN ruleset it has, made the transition to a timed block so much easier. I can tell myself "well I could override the block" but then my next thought is "well it's only like a 50 or 60% chance that page would work anyway so not worth the effort"

I did that for Reddit until I broke the cycle of abuse

Yeah, I've had to be really heavy handed in using lemmy's block feature to block communities and users. Also hiding posts.

There's plenty wrong in the world, but working yourself into fear/panic/anxiety over the things outside of your control doesn't help.

Then again, other people are mostly outside of your control and thats a good thing. Yet there is importance to get into conversations especially when facing disagreement.

Imo lemmy is quite good at controversy.

I still heavy handedly blocked a lot of anime girl communities

Bold of you to assume lemmy isn't full of mentally ill strangers too

[–] rekorse@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

I will say, I felt the same way before I remembered that lemmy isnt all just one place, and there are other sites that provide different experiences.

I'll say that the content on my beehaw account is markedly different than my lemmy.world account.

Life becomes so much easier when you remove those sources.

Then why are you here?

like I said in the last line of the comment, I stated "starting too" It hasen't hit the limit for me yet. I expect it eventually will, in which case I will move on as the online world goes

unless you mean this community, in which case because I find the images posted funny/entertaining and it doesn't match the same atmosphere as X does so it doesn't annoy me

Where will you move on

Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime. That's why I comment on politics on company time.

Yeah I like hearing about people's opinions.

What do you feel about um... things?

[–] JetpackJackson@feddit.org 4 points 4 months ago

Oh man, I love things. Things are great. Doodads and thingamabobs too. All great.

[–] SuddenDownpour@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 months ago

Things suck, they insulted me personally and should be burnt in fire under the pain of a thousand screams, and if you disagree you're going into the fire as well. Hope you appreciated the opinion of your local mentally ill individual ❤️

[–] Baku@aussie.zone 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Oh uh yeah I love things! What about stuff? Do you like stuff? Because um I think stuff is really uh good, without stuff life would be uhh worse

[–] BallsandBayonets@lemmings.world 2 points 4 months ago

You like the wrong things! You should like other things!

I love being unhinged on Reddit hence all my bans but honestly I don’t shit where I eat and thus I am prosocial on Lemmy…

I just can’t see Reddit as anything else as worthless platform and so it is hard to not to be a menace over there. Here I want ppl to think good things about me.

Here we have community we tend to ourselves like our own garden. We own it so to say so why would I do it, there is no reason. Don’t shit where you eat.

I could use vpn and change browser to get on Reddit again but honestly I don’t see any point in engaging that site other than trolling… Reddit just has no soul, no point to existing you don’t even feel like you talk to real humans. It’s TikTok in text format. I don’t have respect for that site and users.

Imagine being a celebrity and everyday a thousand people are discussing you
