I scrolled through most of the post, then wanted to checkout the "subscribed " post. So to navigate to the "menu", I had to scroll all the way back up for the app " header" to show up./

Can we make the header show up when scrolling through the feed?

I really want to use one app for lemmy. I am so tired of using like 5 apps. Each one is missing something that the other has. Connect is getting there to be perfect. Still has major theming issues and notifications, too.

Hi, thanks for the feedback! What do you mean by theming issues? I'll take a look.

The theming engine isn't complete. It needs a slider where I can darken a color to set it as a background when I'm using the dark theme. Let's say I want to use red as the background color while on the dark theme, I can't just use those bright reds. Even the darkest one listed is still too bright. There should be a slider that darkens that red closer to black so it can be dim enough to be a background color while on dark theme. Second issue is now the theme doesn't reset at all. It looks like it's broken or something. I have the theme set to auto to follow the system. The text doesn't change when the theme switches from dark to light and vice versa. I always have to get in there and change the text manually. Otherwise, I'd end up with white text on a white background and a black text on a black background.

Another issue that is not related to theming is the notifications. Notifications bell doesn't show unless I click on a post. Or sometimes it shows when I'm in settings. It rarely shows when I'm scrolling through the feed. It's so weird and confusing honestly. Also, clicking on a notification doesn't always clear it, I'd still have the red number on the bell until I go in manually and set all notifications to "read". This is all I have so far. Not sure if y'all have a GitHub page or not (I looked and didn't find any). I'd love to help with reporting some issues there to make this app better. I have 5 apps installed and now it's a toss up between connect and voyager the web app. I use connect about 70% of the time, but I love love Voyager's notifications implementation, that's mostly why I use it. Their user profile set up is cool, too.

I didn't like the theme customisation of connect at first, then I found I had to go deeper on the settings to customize what I want.

I noticed this too but realized if you just scroll up a bit and don't touch the screen the top header will pop up. But also in the latest update of the app like a day or two ago, they added an option to move the menu bar to the bottom which I really like

I enabled the Bottom navigation and now it works like a charm. Thank you

It shows for me as soon as I try to go back up a little bit in the feed. I wonder why it's not showing for you?

I'm running Connect in Android 13 on a Moto G Stylus 2023, in case that matters to whoever ends up helping sort this out for you.

It only shows up after you STOP scrolling up (and lift your finger). Some people might like this as the top bar can get in the way when trying to position an image in full view. For others, this is annoying because you keep scrolling up trying to find the menu when in fact you need to stop to let it appear, and also those extra seconds of animation add about to a lot of annoying delay if you are trying to move around the interface quickly.
