Lovely colors on her!

Two winters ago I had a very lovely lady cardinal start showing up. She has such soft red hues, they almost look like they were put on like makeup. It made me really start to notice the diversity of the colors of the females.

The jays are still my favs thanks to their personalities, but this particular lady cardinal may be my favorite individual as far as looks go.

We have a few cardinal pairs show up. I'll have to pay more attention to the ladies to see if I can tell them apart!

We have a handful of Blue Jays, but they don't show up that often. I'll have to modify my feeder perches to better accommodate larger birds.

My jays love peanuts in the shell. They haven't been interested in much else I've put out.

The cardinals have like the unshelled and broken peanuts and the sunflower seeds.

The woodpeckers have enjoyed mealworm suet with sunflower seeds, though they'll also hit up the feeders to get the sunflower seeds.

I've been tempted to try one of these peanut wreaths so I can leave nuts out for the jays without all the squirrels taking them first.
