A woman from Hull has been jailed and handed a Criminal Behaviour Order which bans her from 'defecating in a public place' amongst other things.

49-year-old Brace Hull has been jailed for 46 weeks, as well as handed a three-year long order.

Named Hull, from Hull. What are the odds?

I suppose up until now, I wrongfully assumed we were all banned from shitting in public

[–] reagansrottencorpse@lemmy.ml 26 points 3 months ago

Enjoy your newfound freedom!

same here, i just had a quick look around and it seems there's no national legislation, so it comes down to whether your local council has enacted a byelaw, which they might have done. postcode lottery again

What is even the point of living if you can't shit in public?

[–] Emperor@feddit.uk 12 points 3 months ago (1 children)

You still can, you just can't get caught.

I prefer The Great Escape Technique.

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

How’s that any different from normal public shitting?

[–] Emperor@feddit.uk 8 points 3 months ago (2 children)

You do it in your pants but shake it out of your trouser leg, so one's bum cheeks are never visible, thus circumventing obscenity laws.

This workflow requires very specific consistency, it's not recommended for beginners. Strict diet have to be followed as a preparation to achieve a perfect Bristol Type 1-3 on demand

[–] Emperor@feddit.uk 6 points 3 months ago

I wasn't claiming it was easy - I've spent years honing my diet to the point where I can consistently pull this off. It's not a beginner technique and not undergoing all the training and preparation could be disastrous.

It only works if you whistle the theme tune.

[–] Emperor@feddit.uk 3 points 3 months ago

The whistling is key.

Does this include public restrooms? How bad do you have to wreck a public toilet, and how many times does it take before you're considered a legal threat to a coffee shop bathroom? Asking for a friend.

[–] xor@infosec.pub 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

i’m not british, but i think they have some civil rights that would violate….
plus they would probably specify restrooms and not just defecating….

[–] Please_Do_Not@lemm.ee 9 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I'd assume as much, but aren't all Brits banned from public defecation by general public decency laws? If so, an individual ban on the same wouldn't have any meaning. Although I've heard loiscences are required for everything over there, so perhaps there's a public pooping permit for the posh...

Yes, but some people need an extra special, personal reminder.

"Obviously everyone knows not to shit on the pavement in the middle of the city centre... but just to make sure... Ms Grace Hull, we are specifically asking you not to shit on the pavement in the middle of the city centre"

ianal but i have now got about fifteen tabs open with various search results about pissing and shitting in public so that has to count for something? as far as i can see it can be a sexual offence if you intend for someone to see you doing it (and for them to be alarmed by it) but otherwise it depends on the local authority whose turf you have shat on, as they may have a local byelaw -- many do

[–] xor@infosec.pub 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

my guess is she was busted doing it, and instead of charging her and getting her on some sex offender list, they symbolically added it to her probation so if she’s busted again it’ll clearly be a pattern….
i do know in the US you can get on the list if a cop sees you peeing in public and they see your dick… my friend got caught doing that and the cop gave him a “improper disposing of urine” ticket to save him from that… (i was there).

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

You would usually only get put on the list if you were obviously trying for other people to see it. Otherwise it's public urination which is only a misdemeanor, unless you are a serial offender

[–] xor@infosec.pub 2 points 3 months ago

if it’s in view of the public it doesn’t matter whether you intended for someone to see you or not, a child could have walked along and been permanently scarred when they realize that all humans have penises and pee….
but really that’s the way they treat it. if the cop sees it, they’re obligated to charge you with indecent exposure… you knew you were exposing yourself when you unzipped….
i actually had a cop tell me to pee in a rolled up magazine… as long as they don’t see your dick there’s no list.

I hate that the article only details the sentencing, and not the reason behind said sentencing.

The fuck did she do? Shit on the sidewalk or just absolutely evacuate a public bathroom with the fowlness of her bowel movement?

[–] Hugh_Jeggs@lemm.ee 5 points 3 months ago

Brace?

Hilarious name for a twin I suppose 😂

[–] Asidonhopo@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yankee here. I've been to Hull, Massachusetts in the US and she would fit right in

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 2 points 3 months ago

Yeah holding the UK is a pretty massive dump as well. So I'm glad the thematic consistency.

Disgraceful. Who does she think she is, Paula Radcliffe? 😇

[–] Zip2@feddit.uk 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Hull. It’s just a regional spelling.
