the part i like the most with the stanley parable is how the narrator (lines and voice acting) has handled each game route.
i feel there's a mix of excitement and teasing there that makes you follow his lead.
also to add is the clarity of the voice. i didn't need subs when i played the game.
Yeah voice clarity is a so important. The narrator in Stanley Parable was just so pleasant to listen to.
They narrate Dungeons 3 which is also an interesting game. (Not similar though.)
I played the demo and I really liked what you had so far. I just wished I could have held down a button to dispense those doughnuts versus having to mash it, which was really uncomfortable for me. Also I would like to see the game get steam deck verified.
I think having the story revolve around the developer trying to continuously create bigger and more elaborate obstacles for the button would be the best way to go, with plenty of opportunities for mischief in the process as you're trying to get through them.
Another thing I would love to see is some Easter eggs like the companion cube from the portal games. Can't think of anything thing else at the moment, but I'll keep posting replies as they come to me.
Thank you for the comments and suggestions :) The full game has stuff like The Companion cube and some hidden Portal, Half-Life and Stanly Parable references as I love them all and they are all kind of related. :) Love the stuff that you wrote :)
Gotta be careful with approaching it from this angle. Setting out to do something like this ain’t the best way to achieve it.
Yeah, I agree. It's a tight rope. I'm trying to bring on enough original ideas so people can enjoy it without thinking about The Stanley Parable constantly. Hoping it will work out. I have a demo that is meant to demonstrate the spirit of the game too :))
I wouldn't even care if it came off as just more Stanley Parable as long as the ideas are new.
Thank you! :) I think I've reached that goal or I'm on the right track to
I went to wishlist this, and it’s already on my wishlist! Super excited!
Thank you so much :))
Would love a story line that starts normal but then goes off the rails. I do not want you to copy this guy but maybe take inspiration from Andrew Rousso, he made a video called Moist on YouTube, starts normal but eventually you are taken on a journey and come out the other side like mind blown, worth the 7 minutes
"Would love a story line that starts normal but then goes off the rails."
Thank you! This is EXACTLY what happens in the later part of the game, I don't want to spoil anything, tho :) And thank you for the YouTube suggestions, I will see If I can get anything useful :)
I only get search result for Moist CriticL. Care to drop a link :)
I didn't expect the first place I would see Andrew Rousso's stuff shared to be in such a thread lmao
"I want to press the button - an essay" - actually funny stuff! I didn't expect to chuckle, but I did several times. Wishlisted to keep an eye on it!
Thank you, wait to see the ridiculous essay people have sent (I'm thinking of putting them somewhere in the game)!
That's a really good idea!
Real Civil Engineer played this awhile back, looks like fun, will have to try it out soon
I mean, there is plenty of stuff out there. From weird old flash games to stuff like https://store.steampowered.com/app/354240/Please_Dont_Touch_Anything/
