I'm a user that's migrating from Reddit. Most of my fap material was on Reddit and I'm trying to find the lemmy equivalent communities but seem to hit a wall each time via boost. I tried searching for communities without logging in and saw a few but obviously couldn't access without an account.

Made an account in a random instance to turn NSFW on and now those communities don't show (404 community not found). Ok cool, I make an account in lemmy.nsfw but somehow I can't log into that instance here on Boost.

Help a brother out, how do I fap?

Normally I would remind people of my instance, pornlemmy.com, but in the past 3 months we've had somewhere between 250k and 300k unique visitors per month, and less than $200 in total donations. So at the moment I'm investing $200 / 3 of time and resources each month, which amounts to less than one hour of work (per month) for me. I am open to selling PornLemmy though, so if anyone wants a site with 300k uniques, ping me.

From your instances rules:

Pas de contenu pornographique ou Γ©rotique.

Your instance has defederated or blocked most NSFW instances and communities. Join another instance.

Thank you! Making another account, any recommendations for an instance?

I just realised they are manually approving new sign ups in batches so it may take a while to get on there, I guess. Probably why I had the issue with logging into it via Boost

[–] Brainsploosh@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

Batches are approved about twice weekly last I heard, and when there isn't a new botfarm applying 100s of accounts, you should be processed at the next batch.

I'm on Lemm.ee and NSFW seems to work fine.

any recommendations for an instance?

Nope, I just choose mine by country of where I am (after moving on from lemmy.world because the blocked a bunch of piracy communities).

[–] Kingfish@jlai.lu 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Probably a dumb question - moving from lemmy.world would keep your content in that instance, so what if you've spent a lot of time there and have a bunch of comments and shit, do you log back in if you need stuff or just purged?

[–] theKalash@feddit.ch 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

If you delete the old account all your posts and comments will be deleted as well. So just leave the account be if you still want to access it.

Why are so many instances being such prudes. Porn is fine as long as they're 18 and above. Whenever an instance creator is scared of FBI raiding their house, I point to 4chan which hosts all sorts of degen stuff and still kicking.

[–] amio@kbin.social 7 points 11 months ago

Often because other people are prudes, outside their control. A lot of prudishness comes from payment providers etc confusing their job with being a Moral Guardian and making life hard for adult content creators. It's also hard to blame anyone for wanting to not be 4chan-level degenerate or dealing with it. At the very least it's a potential liability, that someone's taking on essentially as a hobby.

Not every country is as free speech with that as the US

your particular instance (jlai.lu) has defederated from lemmynsfw (though oddly not pornlemmy.com); so you won't see any communities, posts, or comments from their users

you can check the federated and defederated instances before you sign up by clicking the "instances" link at the bottom of the page, then scrolling all the way down to the "blocked" section

as to why you can't sign into your lemmynsfw acct.: i don't know. possibly because they're running a patched backend? it may be worth a bug report

[–] Kingfish@jlai.lu 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

This is very helpful and some great info for someone new to lemmy!

I'll raise a bug report for lemmynsfw to Boost and get to creating a new account. It can be a bit confusing so I appreciate the breakdown, thank you!

[–] Zeus@lemm.ee 0 points 11 months ago

i'm glad i could be helpful - i realise federated social networks are a bit of a paradigm shift, so feel free to ask me if you have any other questions (although i probably won't have any answers)

[–] venus@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

Bro's asking the real important questions.

Also is randomnsfw working for anyone?

[–] zerocool@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

You can login to lemmynsfw from boost, just type in the url (lemmynsfw.com) manually, I'm posting this from Boost right now.

[–] GranJ@lemmy.zip 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Try this!

Settings - > Filters & Blocks - > Show NSFW

[–] Kingfish@jlai.lu 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I did, but it's still not showing any NSFW communities :(

You’re free to make an account on mine. Have had an influx of boost users here in the last few days.

Just did, is there a wait time for registration like lemmynsfw?

[–] willya@lemmyf.uk 1 points 11 months ago

Should be approved. Just approved a handful.

  1. You need people to willing to find and share adult content that matches your interests. Not a job I would sign up for.
  2. Only Fans creators haven’t started marketing their channels here, yet. I’d guess a lot of OC you saw on Reddit was posted by creators.

Thank fuck for that. The "adult" parts of Reddit were much better before it turned into 99% "sneak peek of my shitty OF hint hint"

[–] Kingfish@jlai.lu 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

There are a bunch of communities that I saw on boost before signing in but I'm not sure if they are locked out of the instance once I login. One example is asiansgonewild - was visible before creating an account, and now no longer visible after creating one.

Similarly lemmy.nsfw has a bunch of communities but I can't see any of them via Boost.

You may need to login through the website first and adjust some account settings. There is a setting for β€œShow NSFW content” that you should make sure is on. Any settings you apply through the web UI will override whatever app you use.
