A recent report claims that Fitbit is discontinuing its smartwatch lineups, and Google's evasive response only adds fuel to the fire.

This story was already outdated before you posted it:

Google denies reports that it’s discontinuing Fitbit products

Claims that there will be no new Versas or Senses is incorrect, rep says.

Do you happen to know if they actually integrated the Fitbit functionality with their own line of smart watches like they said was planned, or did they really just buy FitBit to let it rot?

Their smart watches work with the Fitbit app and have a bunch of all the same features. Is that what you're asking?

At this point I don't try out any new service from Google because I know it's just gonna go away after a couple years. They have become such shit

It's not just Google though. Realistically, don't go for any device that requires an online component. Just look at the recent news:

  • Snoo
  • Sonos
  • Spotify
  • That sous vide thing

Everything is getting discontinued after a while, leaving you with the burden of disposing of the e-waste. If the device cannot function offline then you are renting it, not owning it.

This wasn't a new service by Google though, it was something bought by Google.
