And it's an open source os created to compete with Torvax by that Linus Stallman's company

[–] Crozekiel@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 months ago

Actually, Gates is just the kernal. The OS should be called Ox/Gates.

Known as Acererak in some realms

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

And Theta Sigma in others.

I think because Gates famously can jump over a chair, which he has demonstrated several times on stage. As the result, Gates (now Windows) didn't learn to jump over his first chair and all hell broke loose.

I’m still never upgrading to Gates 11.

[–] slurpeesoforion@startrek.website 6 points 3 months ago

You gotta ask Tim Apple about that.

Honestly, they might as well change the name to Gates. Feels like I have to break through one every time I want to do anything useful.

I can remember when Bill Gates would travel around and pitch how influential and transformative the internet could be and people would literally laugh in his face.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

You must be from one of those alternate timelines. I remember people laughing at Gates because his book on influential and transformative technologies (The Road Ahead) didn't mention the Internet once.

[–] AidsKitty@lemmy.world -1 points 3 months ago

I remember when Gates went on David Letterman to announce a baseball game was going to be broadcast over the internet for the first time and Letterman mocked him for several minutes. In the beginning the internet was straight garbage.
