you should just close the window and never open it again

[-] Tenthrow@lemmy.world 30 points 11 months ago

Completely agree, but news articles keep embedding videos that will not play in place. Also mildly infuriating.

[-] Tygr@lemmy.world 49 points 11 months ago

Friends don’t let friends use “Ten”

[-] sloonark@lemm.ee 36 points 11 months ago

This rebrand is so dumb in so many ways.

[-] Rando@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

What's funny is how excited Elo was about it, like it was this huge contribution to the site.

[-] Anticorp@lemmy.ml 29 points 11 months ago

Oh gosh... What a UI mistake that is. 30 years of standard interfaces down the drain!

[-] seds@lemmy.eco.br 1 points 11 months ago

Such a waste :(

[-] glimse@lemmy.world 29 points 11 months ago

The rebrand is dumb but anyone who believes you've unlearned years of muscle memory in 48 hours because an X got added to the page is also dumb

[-] Tenthrow@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago

Assuming that PCs are the only computers that exist. Cool.

[-] glimse@lemmy.world 16 points 11 months ago

What does the operating system have to do with it? Wtf lol

It's not an ad, it's a browser window. You know where the close button is unless you started using [whatever OS won't offend you] yesterday

[-] Tenthrow@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago

Many linux desktops and all Macs have the close button on the top left side of the window. So yeah, muscle memory on those system is to move to the top left corner.

[-] glimse@lemmy.world 17 points 11 months ago

My bad, I forgot that macOS puts scaled up window control buttons inside the webpage

[-] Pyroglyph@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

If that's a problem for you, do you also fall for the fake virus alert scams? It's very easy to tell them apart. Plus, muscle memory doesn't apply here since you can just swing your mouse to the top left of the screen and click. No vision is even needed. That's what muscle memory is.

[-] over_clox@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Many advertisements on mobile devices have the X in any random corner, so what's ya point. I see an X, naturally my first thought is this must be the close button.

[-] Resol@lemmy.world 27 points 11 months ago

It's simple: just don't visit the website, and you won't have that problem anymore.

I need downvotes now.

[-] NuclearNoggin@lemmy.world 22 points 11 months ago
[-] Zorque@kbin.social 15 points 11 months ago

Yes, but also reality.

[-] Secret300@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

I think you're the only one still on twitter

[-] LazaroFilm@lemmy.film 4 points 11 months ago
[-] Tenthrow@lemmy.world 13 points 11 months ago

The new twitter or whatever.

[-] LazaroFilm@lemmy.film 14 points 11 months ago

Why are you on it? At least go to Mastodon. Don’t go on TwitterX

[-] Tenthrow@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

I don't use it, but news articles keep embedding videos that don't play in place. You click to play and it loads the whole dumb site.

[-] Rivalarrival 8 points 11 months ago

I believe it's "Xcreter" now.

[-] aeternum@kbin.social 3 points 11 months ago

Xcrement Plus

[-] Jtee@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Correction, it's "Ten".

[-] user75736572@sh.itjust.works 4 points 11 months ago

Am I the only one who thinks the rebranding is kinda cool?

[-] Tenthrow@lemmy.world 43 points 11 months ago

You aren't the only one. Elon seems to think so too.

[-] Rivalarrival 23 points 11 months ago

Your comment rests on the assumption that this user is not Elon.

[-] user75736572@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago
[-] user75736572@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

lol at least it’s a rare domain

[-] Holyginz@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago
[-] user75736572@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

It’s kinda cool that he owns that

[-] Tenthrow@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Billionaires get to own just about anything they want.

[-] user75736572@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah but only one can have x.com

[-] Tenthrow@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

I guess Thunderdome if two of them ever want it.

[-] Holyginz@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago
[-] VediusPollio@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

I don't have much of an opinion on Twitter or what Elon does with Twitter, but I'm not a fan of this rebranding.

That said, I'm going to upvote you since the rest of Lemmy is apparently all about quashing dissenting opinions.

[-] vintprox@geddit.social 3 points 11 months ago

Decades of browser engineering have failed us... This day came.

[-] Chocrates@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

No, every damn time.

[-] Mixel@szmer.info 1 points 8 months ago
