Tab Tue 03 Sep 2024

  • Brush: Semogue Owner's Club (cherry wood and boar) (34)
  • Razor: Zwilling J. A. Henckels Friodur 17 (NOS, 7/8", hollow ground, stainless steel)
  • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz Tabac Original
  • Aftershave: Mäurer & Wirtz Tabac Original
  • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz Tabac Original

The Glorious Stank is back 🥰

I can't tell anymore whether the SOC is still breaking in or not, but it is nice to use by now; loads quickly, good backbone but not scratchy, and it whipped up a creamy veggie Tabac lather in no time.

The big Frio 17 is pure delight. Smooth and calm, it feels like a lot heavier grind than the Frio 50. I also enjoy the faux round point, which feels just as gentle as a round point.

September 3, 2024

  • Brush: AP Shave Co. - 24mm Synbad Fan
  • Razor: Chiseled Face - Legacy Raw Titanium (#69)
  • Blade: Personna Lab Blue (3)
  • Lather: Barrister & Mann - Petrichor - Soap
  • Post Shave: Barrister & Mann - Petrichor - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: Noble Otter - Hamami - EdP

This tub is very close to being empty. I predict one or two more shaves and I'll have a kill on my hands.

Oro Valley was still detectable in my brush from yesterday which is impressive considering it doesn't present itself as a particularly strong scent. I have a feeling I'll be getting a set of that at some point.

Sep 3, 2024 - Still Life with Apple

  • Razor: Blutt Rasur BR-1 0.99
  • Blade: Gillette Nacet [8]
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Braeburn - Soap
  • Post Shave: Grooming Dept - Laundry II - Aftershave (Alcohol Free)
  • Fragrance: House of Mammoth - Alive - Eau de Parfum

Crisp apples and fresh laundry to start today off.

Rating: 4/5

03.09.2024 - not dead yet

  • Prep: shower
  • Brush: TGS Galaxy 26 mm
  • Razor: Leaf Thorn
  • Blade: snapped BIC Chrome Platinum
  • Lather: Abbate Y La Mantia - Blu Tobacco
  • Post-Shave: Natura Siberica ASB gel

-> 1 pass head shave. Not the closest shave, but very comfortable.

So yes, I'm not dead yet. Life is busy atm but I keep on doing my thing.

Today was yet another very hot day, so this menthol shave provided some much needed refreshment. Currently I have yet another internship, but this one is at least a 45-minute drive away. Getting up just a bit after 4 a.m. is hard for a late type like me, so I now only use a washcloth in the morning and shower in the late afternoon or evening. Shower & shave combos work surprisingly well for me as my skin feels pretty good. Unfortunately my psoriasis has started to spread behind my other ear now too, so no harsh aftershaves anymore. I'll try to find a solution.

Recently we had elections at my federal state in Germany and unfortunately but unsurprisingly, the far-right has garnered a lot of votes. Partially also due to the incompetence of our current SPD-led government. Personally, I think it's time that we all talk more and try to find compromises and innovative, satisfying solutions for our problems. That'd help to curb extremist beliefs. (I'm usually not one to bring up politics, but the disappointment still lingers around in me - just trying to get it out.)

Have a peaceful day tomorrow ✌🏻

  • Brush: Zenith B40 28mm Boar

  • Razor: Parker 510 13/16" Square Point Full Hollow

  • Lather: House of Mammoth - Tobacconist - Soap

  • Toner: Thayers - Rose - Toner

  • Aftershave: Barrister and Mann - Leviathan - Aftershave

2 passes. Bowl lather. Excellent shave.

This Zenith boar is progressing incredibly well. It had a tiny bit of funk on first use but that's gone. The bristles were stiff but not objectionable on day one also. Now, no funk, and the brush is already beginning to soften.

Tobacco and coffee go so well together. My Leviathan soap was killed long ago, and I only have a couple more uses on this splash. Such an amazing scent.

This one needs to become more than a sample.

[–] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 2 points 1 month ago

I thought the exact same thing after my sample

Tuesday, September 3, 2024: Zingari Zischtig

My first shave in September – this razor feels noticeably less sharp than the River Razors Kamisori or the TI.

Have a good night!

Eckhart! Fetch the packing peanuts, it's honing time!

The packing peanut is sliced very cmnvincingly - it's just that it somehow feels a bit lame.

[–] djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I had that on my 50. Couldn't figure out the problem, so I killed the edge and started from the beginning. Boom 💥, great edge

I shouldsprobably try this!
