I (26M, Filipino Cambodian) was on a date with my girlfriend (27F, White of Irish descent) just out on the town. We stopped at a board game cafe to chill out and eat some desserts I bought for our date. In the board game cafe we met one of my friends 'Ava' who was on a date with a different girl 'Valencia;. We waved them over just as we started eating some dessert to catch up.
We shared the initial banana fritters together and Ava bought all of us a round of canned energy drinks to have later. I also got a cup of water with a lid on it. just before we started to play a board game I brought out my other desserts. I noticed that I only had three pieces of my spongecake so I decided that I'd ask specifically who wanted to have some.
The problem was, I asked Valencia first since I didn't know her that much and I wanted to make her feel included. So I asked, with my back turned to her and digging through my bag "Valencia do you want some Mamon?"
Valencia asked me to repeat what I said and I turned around, holding the mamon. I said again "Do you want some Mamon?"
Valencia stormed from the table and I was left feeling confused and rather insulted. Ava said they won't likely play the board game with us but it was nice seeing me.
I was confused all the while and looked at my girlfriend, who was just as confused. We started playing the board game and Valencia and Ava walked up to me. Valencia said I was nasty for calling her a mamon when we barely knew each other She widely gestured, knocking her hand into my water cup and spillign it over me and the board game. Ava told VAlencia to forget her number because Valencia was being an idiot.
The card game my girlfriend and I were playing got drenched, so we explained to the staff what happened. The staff kicked Valencia out after Ava showed her what Mamon was in terms of dessert. The staff just told me to pay enough for the replacement since that was already the replacement copy so now I'm out $40 dollars.
TL;DR, offered Filipino Sponge Cake to someone who didn't know what the name of the dessert was, got water spilled over me, and had to pay the board game replacement fee
