Fresno is the Alabama of California, so this checks out

Fresno.

On Monday, a city ban on any encampments on public land goes into effect, soon to be followed on Oct. 13 by another policy prohibiting camping on private land — essentially making it illegal to camp in the city. Violations can bring a $1,000 fine or a year in jail.

So, taxpayer paid housing then. But it's ok because it comes with suffering. Seriously, I'm sure an apartment would be cheaper than jail and probably make everyone involved a lot happier. But no, that would be "socialism". Besides, this way the jail can rent them out to McDonald's. (I wish I was joking on that)

What's the story behind that?

Here's the one I saw the other day, but if you Google "inmate McDonald's slavery" a bunch come up from other sources. Basically they pay minimum wage, the prison takes a cut, the prison also charges the inmates a fee, and the prison also withholds privileges if they refuse.
