This is the main guy the film "Lord of War" is loosely based on (with several other gun runners for inspiration).

If you know how Hollywood received that movie for slightly criticizing the US in literally a 2 minute ending, then you pretty much know why the USA only cares if he starts selling to their current targeted enemies.

They wouldn't even bother to report on him if he started selling to the entirety of Africa again, which he also probably is.

I mean the Hothies are making good use of the weapons they have. Would be nice if the US did this instead of arming the Israelis

I do wonder how Russia feels about this, though. Since I imagine they're allined with the Israelis, who are also invading their neighbors trying to steal their land.

Israel sold military drones to Russia in 2015, after the Chrimea invasion started the war against Ukraine.

https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/analysis-drone-deals-heighten-military-ties-between-israel-and-russia

Israel refrained from supporting sanctions on Russia, so Russia would let it bomb Syria. Israel also refused to support Ukraine with weapons and urged Ukraine to surrender to Russia. Israel also denied the Russian responsibility for the nerve gas attack on Sergej Skripal and his daughter

Israel does not care the slightest about the interests of its western allies and Netanyahu considers Putin a "personal friend".

Russia is aligned with causing as much chaos and destabilizing world order in order to grab as much land and influence in the process. In other words perfectly aligned.

This was such a bad prisoner exchange.

Maybe we can get Brittney Griner to start selling arms to other rebel groups in Yemen, that might make up for it

Such a terrible trade and it just encouraged putin to lock up more folks for more trades

[–] Badeendje@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago

Not if you got traded out of Russias hands.

Nice to see redemption arc :)

There are honestly much worse groups he could be selling weapons to yeah.
