Guidelines:

Things that are well-made and durable (even if they won't last a lifetime) are A-Okay!

Unlike that other BIFL place, Home-made and DIY items are encouraged here, as long as some form of instruction is included in the body of the post.

Videos links are not allowed as post titles, but you may use them in a text post.

A limited amount of self-promotion is accepted, IF the item you are selling aligns with this criteria:

  1. The item must be made with sustainable or recycled materials.
  2. If electronic in some way, the item must be open-source.
  3. The item must be user-serviceable (if applicable).
  4. You cannot be a large corporation.
  5. The post must be clearly marked with a [Self Promotion] tag in your title.

I dunno about life, but my carhartt heavyweight defenders last years. They get worn to jobsites and get the shit beat out of them.

I do have one I use for weekends and I think it 3 years old. Maybe 4? It's faded but no fringe on any of the cuffs. And the hood is nice and deep, side seems too, not one up the center.

I also came here to recommend Carhartt.

I'd also give it up to Carhartt. As someone who has worked his entire life in the tree business, they are pretty freaking tough. I switched to crewneck, though; got tired of the kangaroo pouch filling with sawdust. One caveat: the sizing skews large—substantially, IMO. At least when the fit says "loose," in any case.

Although it's kind of tactical wank, I've had a triple aught design fleece hoodie for 12 years and its held up really well to all sorts of camping, hunting, hiking etc. Great for cold weather

For a good hoodie 50$ is totally reasonable

American Giant. Expensive, but they have a great warranty and the craftsmanship is top notch.

Hollister is some rich kid shit but I got a hoodie for 25 bucks like 15 years ago and it's held up, and is very soft and comfortable. If you like plain unbranded stuff, H&M has Divided stuff with absolutely no logos and mine has held up acceptably. Lost a zipper tooth but that's about it after 7 or so years. Cheap too. Also if Costco exists where you live, Kirkland makes unbranded hoodies for cheap cheap. Have not had mine long but it's perfect for cool weather (too breathable for winter, imo).

Eddy Bauer makes a good sweater. I pick up additional ones every year when we drive by the outlet malls.

My Muji hoodie has withstood ~4 years of daily use, and is only just starting to fray around the wrist cuffs.

I have had my World of Warcraft hoodie from Jynx for 14 +/- 2 years and have only started looking to replace it recently. Sadly Jynx’s stuff is no where near the quality it once was. But if you can find an old used one in good shape it will last.
