A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. A showerthought should offer a unique perspective on an ordinary part of life.

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. Avoid politics
    1. NEW RULE as of 5 Nov 2024, trying it out
    2. Political posts often end up being circle jerks (not offering unique perspective) or enflaming (too much work for mods).
    3. Try c/politicaldiscussion, volunteer as a mod here, or start your own community.
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct-----

I mean yes, but probably only if you live in Russia:

The funny thing is: All the really intelligent people in the soviet union, the ones who developed stuff like nuclear bombs and missiles and their decent ships?

They were Ukrainian, which is why they're suddenly building hunter-killer drones in a cave out of a box of scraps.

Worked with Ukrainian engineers, I would not get on the wrong side of them for any money, Russia can throw as many of its children as it wants at their machine guns, this won't end the way they think.

It started throwing North Korean children.

Are they more durable than Russian children? I don't know, let's find out!

- some Russian officer, probably

During the early '00 flight sim fans were enjoying a Russian game called IL2. The other offerings from Microsoft and Janes just couldn't compete with the level of detail in the flight models. Turns out, the people working on the game were all trained in aerospace engineering. The guys who went to school to work for the famous Russian aviation firms were making video games instead because it paid better.

Well, aerospace didn't pay them well, but it definitely paid the oligarchs and shoigu.

And if he does, so what? There's nothing I can do about that so why should I worry?

If this is the kind of thought you have in the shower, you might wanna get your pipes checked for lead.

I think it’s more a symptom of anxiety.

Most people are worried about nukes, but thinking about it every day screams anxiety to me.

Well, that's fine, I'm betting he'd have a bad day as well if he tried.

This was reported for breaking rule 1,4,5.

1 The votes seem to agree that it's not a shower thought. I'm slow to remove a post for this rule, I would rather let the votes do the work.

4 I'm not sure saying this about Putin is saying anything about any people group. You can be hugely supportive of people groups while thinking their leaders are responsible for, or capable of, horrible things. At various times nearly every country could be used as an example of this.

5 I'm not sure what community rule it's breaking. It's not a very positive post but people should be free to be negative online if they that's how they feel. Lord knows that many comment threads are negative. I may feel differently if the the majority of posts suddenly became negative.

As always I'm open to feedback.

Whether you've got big plans for your Sunday or are just going to relax, America could install a NATO army on your doorstep bringing the world another step closer to nuclear Armageddon.
