Totally not monstrous, its totally normal to "detain" fucken children. Fuck these regimes.

[–] Cephalotrocity@biglemmowski.win 32 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Better get used to it. It's nothing but 'USA Approved' for the next 4 years.

[–] Linktank 15 points 3 days ago

We've got an optimist over here!

[–] Sanctus@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

Fuck that, they better get used to an unruly populace. I'm sick and tired of madness reigning. The world not making fucking sense. Everything being fucked for profit and power. It doesnt have to be like this.

[–] frosty99c@midwest.social 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Just like it's been approved for the past year.

[–] Cephalotrocity@biglemmowski.win -3 points 3 days ago

You wish it only had the same level of approval as under Biden. Don't worry. Reality will teach some harsh lessons soon.

[–] frustrated_phagocytosis@fedia.io 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

US already jails children, this policy is actually less harsh than ours

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 4 points 3 days ago

Only if you don't understand the nuance of the word "jailed" here.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago

Knowing what we know about the IDF, "fucken children" is probably going to happen

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago

Like we did at the border. Despite "innocent until proven guilty."

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

According to the wording it's only supposed to be for children who murder someone under the auspices of terrorism. But I get the feeling the terrorism term will become the driving force for the imprisonments. Also, the condition where they can imprison children for 10 days if they are deemed to pose a threat is a really broad that is very prone to abuse.

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 8 points 3 days ago

I'm sure children won't be pushed towards violence just because they've lost family and friends, home and childhood, to Israeli attacks.

[–] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 18 points 3 days ago

Also in the article, they passed a law for deporting family members of "terrorists". And this includes Israeli Arabs, supposedly "full citizens" of the totally not-apartheid "only democracy".

[–] Kecessa@sh.itjust.works 39 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That certainly won't lead to a new generation of people willing to join Hamas, no sir!

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 10 points 3 days ago

Israel has a military industrial complex. They know they're sewing the seeds for continued conflict. They need continued conflict. They profit off of it.

[–] penquin@lemm.ee 47 points 3 days ago

I mean they have been shooting them in the forehead for fun anyway. No surprise here, I guess.

I don't understand what's changed here. I saw Israel routinely arrest children when I worked in the West Bank.

They would hold them in Ofer prison until the parents paid a ransom to get their kids back. The kids were younger than 14.

The reason was some Israeli (usually a racist settler) called the police and said the kid did something. Usually they claimed throwing rocks. One time a kid was just on the roof of his building playing with birds. Israelis get nervous when they see Palestinians above them.

Isn't this covered in Administrative Detention laws already?

[–] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 days ago

I think this law is about "convicted" kids, as opposed to "just" administrative detention.

I want to stay ontop of the news for this whole conflict/genocide but this shit is dépressing the hell outta me. I don't understand how anybody could treat other human beings the way Isreal is in this.

Edit: especially children like what the fuck

[–] whithom@discuss.online 28 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Being under 14, believe it or not… jail.

[–] InverseParallax@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Over 14, also jail, see, under/over.

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

What if I exactly 14?

[–] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Also, it bears mentioning that this would place minors at the hands of the "Jewish Power"-controlled National Security ministry, an extremist kahanist group headed by a convicted terrorist-supporter, and of whose many members belonged formerly to a banned terrorist and racist group.

[–] Sir_Kevin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Will they be jailing them now instead of using them for target practice or is this just for the survivors?

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Israeli jails are torture chambers. Would you rather a sniper drone shoot you in the head? Or spend years being tortured in prison?

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Pretty messed up of Israel.

[–] CluckN@lemmy.world -2 points 3 days ago

Agreed they should arrest the dude he keeps popping up in the news.
